Three months after the Florida Supreme Court disbarred him for 10 years, the litigator is seeking a rehearing of his case based on the outcome of a separate Florida Bar complaint against fellow lawyer Ramon Rodriguez. Both men were accused of conspiring with one another and a third attorney to take down prominent ex-federal prosecutors Guy Lewis and Michael Tein.

Miami City Attorney Victoria Mendez fired off a quick email May 31 to her office’s paralegal Stephanie Schloss-Sassi declaring she had no documents pertaining to a public records request about Ultra Music Festival returning to the city-owned Bayfront Park. “As discussed, our office has no responsive docs,” Mendez wrote. “This doesn’t apply to us. :).” Not exactly.

Lauralei Combs, the $121,540-a-year director of Broward County’s animal shelter, has terminated three longtime volunteers who she claims violated a workplace culture agreement requiring them to show mutual respect to her employees. The volunteers had posted videos of allegedly mistreated canines.
