Broward Sheriff Dr. Gregory Tony wants the State of Florida to force Broward County to give him a hefty budget increase. He wants it so badly that he and a team of his top brass are planning to travel to Tallahassee to appeal the county’s partial denial of his unprecedented billion-dollar-plus proposal.

In the halls of BSO headquarters, Sheriff “Dr.” Gregory Tony is accustomed to hearing “Yes, sir!” from his overly fawning command staff. So it didn’t go over well when Broward commissioners recently told Tony no, that his proposal for a 48 percent budget hike – to more than $1 billion – was unworkable.
