A New York federal magistrateâs hunt for the leaker of a 610-page deposition transcript of a Saudi diplomat wrapped up Tuesday after two testy days of an unusual trial in which lawyers for the Saudi government grilled their opponent lawyers for the 9/11 families on the witness stand.

Long before last monthâs release of a 2016 FBI report about Operation Encore, the bureauâs probe into possible Saudi complicity in 9/11, top Trump administration officials swore under âpenalty of perjuryâ that information in the report was a âstate secretâ whose public release was likely to cause âsignificant harm to the national security.â

Family members of the murdered and two survivors of the September 11 attacks wrote to Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines on Wednesday asking her to make public a 16-page FBI report of its investigation of Saudi government agents in the U.S. who helped the 9/11 hijackers.
